my vr commodore keeps stopping, when you wind it over it sounds like it is firing on the wrong cylinder.I was told it was the crank angle sensor. I replaced it and it seems to be running much better. I cleared the fault code and I still have code 12 come up followed by code 48. I have removed the engine fuse for 1 min, code 12 will flash untill the car is stared. Is this normal?

Hi Craig, is it just the 12 (system ok) code coming up know? 48 is for the crank sensor, if you have replaced the sensor and reset the comp you should only have the 12 code coming up. Here is a link to a full list of code ID. http://www.justcommodores.com

Hello All

Read with interest the codes. Does one need a special instrument to read the codes from the car? Where is the computer and how does one access it?

The Gregory's manuals cover most of it. Just find the diagnosis plug and put a peice of wire across the 2 correct pins to get it to test and show any fault via the eng light flashing to show what code/faults. Below is a good link to tech site,
