Short answer - yes, sort of.

Slightly longer answer (should hopefully answer most or all your questions)...

The box and pump are the same for 6 and V8. The brackets for V8 and 6 are extrememly different. Make sure you get ALL the bolts and spacers,

I have just picked up a complete power steering set up from a HJ Statesman to fit to my HQ Monaro.

I don't have the steering arms.

Are they available to buy or is a wrecker the best option.

Anyone know what they are worth?

Best bet is to post a wanted to buy post in the sale/wanted section, if someone can tell us the length of them (power and manual) I've got some left overs from a HJ in the shed but I can't remember if it was manual or power....came as wreck about 10 years

Hi Guys.

The steering arms on the HQ are the same as any HJ/X/Z/WB with power steer. You don't need to change them.

Thanks for clarifying my answer about the steering arms Dr Terry....I just re-read my post and I could have worded that bit somewhat better.

All HQ and the HJ-WB power steering arms are about ¾" - 1" shorter in length (from front bolt to Tie-rod joint)

Thanks for that info guys. I have just remembered I have a set of HQ ones in the shed but I don't know if they came from a manual or power steering car.
My GTS is manual steer so if they're shorter than those then they must be power steer ones. I'll

Yes, you were silly... :-))

The HQ steering arms are ALL the same...power steer and manual steer are both the same length in the HQ's.

In the HJ - WB's, the manual steer cars had longer steering arms. The Power steer cars stayed with the exact same

Thanks for clearing that up. I must admit that I still wasn't sure about the differences even after reading the previous posts. It sometimes takes a while for things to sink in!!

I'm imagining that the HJ-WB manual steer cars used a longer steering a

Hi Guys.

To try & make this all a bit clearer. The steering arms on all power steered HQ-WB are the same (short) item.

To lighten up the steering effort, GM-H in late HJ, made the arms on the manual steer cars longer.

Alternatively, Darren, if you want lighter steering for your HQ GTS without fitting power steering, fit the later arms...

Cheers...Dave

Now that's a good idea. I think I'll stick the power steering on the GTS and use your idea on the SS as it is going to be restored as completely original as I can and they weren't available with power steering.

Thanks for that. Once again I know real
