hi there
I have come to the point where i need to rebuit my gearbox. Its the 4 speed tourquemaster that only done about 75000kms. As its a bit expensive to do this standard job i was thinking of other gearboxes that i could put in instead. Does anyone rate the 5 speed borg warner boxes? Should i stick with what ive got? Are there any other gearboxes that will fit?
cheers
rohan

Aussie 4-speed M20 or M22; Supra or Celica (talk to Dellow); 5-speed Borg Warner; Trimatic. Many options. An original Holden conversion would be your best bet. |

go supra for best value. your 6 should never break it either. a couple of grand for full conversion. you may be able to save some if yours is manual already
VN Calais, V8 Auto, Blown etc etc.

thanks for that
are there any differences between the supra and celica box? would it be cheaper just to buy another gearbox then rebuilding the one i have? can you put different gear ratios in or would this be on the expensive side? and borg warner

borgwarner is fine, but not as good as a supra turbo box. changing ratio's is a fairly big job. the stock supra ratio's are good, just change your diff ratio to get the revs/speed you want.

Call a Mal Wood Autos in Qld or CRS in Vic or Dellow in Sydney. Dellow will make a bellhousing to adapt the box to your motor. They (or the other guys) should have a box to suit or be able to advise you where to get one.
Cheers...Dave
