Hi all i have a HX sedan with a VN efi V8 setup and i am looking at fitting aircon to it. I am thinking of using the set up out of a current model toyota camry(i work for toyota so parts are cheap). I am not going to run a heater since the car is for summer driving basicly so i will try to itergrate it into the original HX heater box. What i am after is some pics etc of of the factory mounts for the aircon pump and alternator and possibly some measurements so i can get one made up if need be. Also i have noticed that the v6 holden engine has the aircon pump on the passenger side and was wondering if the mounts would fit on a V8? Thanks in advance Christopher |

The V6 setup won't suit a V8 because of the oil pump & filter location on the LH front of the motor. I would suggest an EFI setup, where the compressor is mounted down low on the driver's side of the block, and the bracket carries a tensioner as well.

I was thinking of the VN V8 setup but according to a reply to a previous post on the subject someone has said that the VN setup hits the HQ-WB steering box which puts an end to that idea which is a shame because it would have made it a whole lot easier. |

I think the throttle body/intake ducting will foul the standard HQ-HZ alternator/aircond compressor mount. For a similar conversion, I made a new compressor mounting bracket based on a VT V8 Commodore alternator bracket and it seems to work well. This set

HI Matt.
the intake does cause probs with a standard compressor mount. The other problem i have is that i have the power steering pump on the drivers side which dosnt leave much room for the alternator. i think my only option would be to use an har |

If you are going to use a Harrop manifold, you will need to make up a 30-40mm spacer to go under the thermostat housing otherwise the top radiator hose will foul on the fuel rail. You can still find the old Air International airconditioning units about t
