Guys

The Overlander just developed a smoking habit. Will look further tomorrow but I think I know the answer, but wanted to check first. It drives fine, but under slow acceleration in second gear it does hesitate slightly. It's a 308 TH400 on LPG/petrol. What is happening is that when I'm travelling downhill for a while running under engine braking it starts to pour smoke out the tailpipe, like it's got a bushfire behind the diff. It has a canvas canopy on it at the moment, but the smoke looks to be white or blue from what I see. I'm thinking buggered auto trans vacuum modulator sucking oil when under high vacuum (ie light throttle). Has anyone busted one of these and had similar symptoms?

Greetings and Salutations !!!!!!

Hmm I think you have it in one !! High vacuum, whiteish smoke. Check ur plugs by manifold bank and tranny fluid level.

Maybe put a clear piece of tube (brake bleeding hose stuff) on the vacuum hose to the tranny and

Bugger. I'm about to change engines and would rather it be rings! The modulator is modified on an Overlander to clear the front tailshaft, so I have to modify a new one. As soon as I saw the smoke the first time I sort of guessed modulator though.
