I've got a stereo in my HX (a pioneer unit) and whenever I tune into AM frequencies, i get a tone through the speakers that sweeps from a high tone to a low tone continuously. What's up with that? Is it anything to do with interference from the electric system?

Hey John/

Makes a sound as soon as the radio is turned on. Even with the motor not running.

Occilates at the same rate regardless of engine speed.

No idea - I did not install it. It does not happen on CD or on FM stations.

So it could be a 12V feed issue?

Hi Spud,

If all u have on is the radio say in ACC mode, and not IGN, you have a bad Pioneer unit.

However if the HX has electronic ignition and you have the ignition set to IGN, and engine not running, maybe u have the 12V coming off the distributor
