HZ 253 V8 pollution manifold.
There is a valve of some sort that is on the LH side of the inlet manifold, running beside the LH rocker cover that has a vacume line running to it from a sender in the front of the inlet manifold, it then has a rubber vac hose that loops on the back of the unit with a one way valve?? It has a large flat 2xtermional plug with pink wire running to and from it. I traced the wires and they look like they run to the kick down switch but there is a pink wire that is loose that possible went to an elec sender on the front of the eng somewhere, it has a single female spade terminal??

In short, can I remove this whole unit assy and will it effect the running of the car. I don't think it works as there is that one wire that is not connected to the front of the eng somewhere?

What is it, what is it sposed to do?

Cheers

Thatnks for that Kev,
I do have a direct vacuum line to the dissy from the carb. If you could get me the dia somehow that would be great. I seemed strange that the vacuum line would be looped back onto it's own tee join at the back of the unit, it serve

For legal reasons I wouldn't remove the Canister. Regardless that it no longer serves its intended purpose, The Law will ASUME that it dose! Stupid as it really is.

I would block the small hoses to the carb (from the inside) and let life go on :)

Too easy,

That's the idea behind Fastlane's message boards I think. Help each other out when we can.

Definately freeze the new ones - I like to put them in overnight, and remove them right when you are ready to install them.
Don't hit the frozen ones with a hammer though, as they crack real easy!

I took the lower arms out and got a local workshop to press out the old joints....I must have one of the few that are still tight, wouldn't budge with a hammer so while I was there they pressed in the new one and ask why were the new ones so
