Hello i have a genuine 307 4 speed HK monaro. It has the hump in the rear in boot, track rods and has bump in transmission tunel. The car came with a 350 chev and a powerglide. I purchased a saginaw gearbox, shifter and bell housing, originaly from a HT 350 monaro. Can I remove the bracket that holds the shifter to the crossmember and reweld it onto a HK automatic cross member or do i need to find a original HK monaro saginaw cross member.

A HK Saginaw crossmember is the same as a Powerglide one. The shifter doesn't mount to the crossmember at all, but to the floor off an angle bracket which bolts to longer seat bolts. The HT shifter is the same, but you need the HK bracket and long bolt th

Find some and tell me because I have two 4-speed HK's and my mate has two as well and we don't have one shifter bracket between us. I have one bellhousing and it's cracked. Just keep looking. Perry (monaro.com.au) reckons he can make a repro support brack

As far as I know all HK 307s were autos.

The shifter bolts to the crossmember on every HK that I have worked on, the piece you are talking about Byron is just a brace, and is simply a piece of angle with a small bend in the end and a hole for the centre of the shifter.

The crossmemebers are s

Warren, you learn something new every day. I've never seen a HK Saginaw crossmember in the flesh then. More searching for stuff my HK then.
On the HT 307 4-speed front, that is where I think the 'no 4-speed 307 HK' myth came from ie all 307 HT's were Pow

I know whom you are talking about now. Again, you sometimes learn two or more things a day.... How rare are Saginaw 307 HT's? AFAIK they were not officially available.

I have pictures of both shifters the HK holden had two shifters the early one had the shifter bolted to the floor. It had trouble jumping out of gear under heavy acceleration. A change was made half way through the model and the shifter was then mounted t

Just found out that as I thought, the 307 manual HT officially never existed. Just like HQ 350 Premiers (4 made), VK EFI with M20 and other such 'specials'. The 4th Pagewood car is indeed a factory 307 HT 4-speed and may be the only one, but a few other '

luketroy, don't cut the brace off the ht crossmember, I saw one on E-bay with a shifter for $1800. All hk's with 307-327 4 speed had a unique crossmember with the brace to hold the shifter. hk crossmembers were not adjustable like the others.

Saginaw behind a 307 in a HK is common, but officially non-existant in a HT.

That piece of misinformation has been around for years. I believe it originated from the HT range where it is actually true (bar a handful of specials). Somehow over time or in printing errors HT became HK. When the HT was released if you wanted a V8 auto
