1964 EH: Please HELP! Have taken out a 234 stroked 202,from my EH, and want to put my 308 out of a commodore. The car allready ran a supra 5 speed and a HQ one tonner diff, With a VH40 remote booster running 4 Wheel solid discs. It has a ball joint front end from a HR and is still running a steering box.I was really hoping for some tips/advice/feedback on the best way to go about the steering rack conversion, The best exhaust to go with, I would also like to upgrade my front brakes and booster aswell as relocating my booster to the boot. Any feedback on any of this or any other ideas anyone has to share, would be greatly appreciated.. Thank You!

If you are just after HQ brakes on the front to match your diff then just chase up the HQ-WB stubs and brakes, bolt straight in (if rear mounted rack used remember to swap side's) Going to a rack and pinion setup has a few options, some are front mounted

Thanks heaps... On mine I've just got the vh40 booster on the front right chassis rail, and HR discs on the front with girlock calipers. On the back i think their modified commodore discs because the handbrake is but the calipers are still girlocks. The b

Tandem brake system = twin boosters if after the master.
Single booster if before the master - firewall mount.
Trouble with second option is there is no room to just simply bolt a booster to the firewall without modifications to the rh hinge.

Cheers...Dave

I saw it at Brockies Big Day Out up past Greensborough (can't remember the name of the town ATM. It was something-hurst) last year when I was in Vic.
It was late in the day so I didn't take a pic of the car, but it looked very straight and clean.

If you are getting rear lockup try fitting a proportioning valve to the rear. For under bonnet clearance (right hinge etc) why not fit gas struts? Much neater and right out of the way. Only got to fit custom hinges then. Or go rear opening bonnet.

Good food for thought there John with the gas struts. In mine I have room for the hinge (after I remade it to fit around the booster) but I hate having the small hinge spring on one side. Anyone happen to have info/pic's/install guide for fitting these o

The 4 wheel disk brake setups on the original cars had a dual diaphragm booster. I guess the authorities are just continuing with that, with a twin setup being the closest. Unless you get a dual diaphragm booster off a WB Caprice or something. Then you go

I'm also not familiar with this twin booster setup.I've got a single master thats mounted to the firewall, right next to the one for the hydraulic clutch, which feeds the single remote vh40.And with that my four wheel discs also worked a treat, except unde Edited by user Sunday, 11 June 2006 11:26:13 AM(UTC)
