Is a red 308 the same as a vr>vs 308, except for heads and aspiration??

Almost. The VN/VG/VP/VR/VS-mid VSIII 304 doesn't have the block threaded for the 4 x short head bolts in the valley - the ones that are only half torqued on a red/blue/VK/VL 308/304. The cam is also different, but interchanges between blocks. Plus the las

Yes. And the heads are getting cheaper now as the engines wear out, and VN V8's are worth stuff all. I bought a pair the other day for $200. Brand new head bolts are also peanuts. Make sure when you buy the heads you buy the rocker covers too.

hey thanks 4 that byron, i wouldnt try it myself, dont know enough about how to do it, but seems that would end up with late model engine, power economy, etc. cheers
