Can someone please explain the part that the crank angle sensor (built into the VS 5.0L distributor) plays in the ignition system. I understand that it reads the position of the crankshaft and from that, tells the CPU when to send a signal to the spark plugs and injectors.

Does that cover it or is there more to it?

Hi Richard.

It's a bit like a set of points. It tells the spark when to fire & being an EFI system it tells the injectors when to open.

Dr Terry.
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
