You have 2 options:

1. An oversize sump plug, and tap the thread to suit.

2. An OEM sump plug, but tap the thread bigger, and insert a helicoil to bring it back on size.

Are you posative it is cross threaded?
it might just need a washer(gasket).
Holden sell white nylon type washers for the injected 5 liters so that might help if you if it aint crross threaded.

1) Re-Tap the tread out. And fit a new bolt plug.

2) weld the Plug in, Find a replacement plug/bung and weld that in.

I'd be cautious to Heli coils as they dont seem to be water tight... In my experience.

Just buy a tap and run it in there to clean out your damaged threads. Is it 1/2" UNF (SAE) . . . I think. Someone else might know the correct thread.

Our VS 5.0L Berlina sump plug used to leak. Fixed it 100% with a healthy dose of plumbers thread tape wrapped around it.
