I have a mild 308 in my HG running a Holley 600 Vac. Sec. The thing starts very easily and makes good power but constantly runs rich, fummey and plug colour. When I jet it down say, 63's it develops a lean flat spot which isn,t there with the 65's.I just read here where the 600 vac. sec. is regarded as crap! Is my carby the problem being too basic for the Donk? 308 pacemakers,mod. HQ heads,roller rockers, Eddlebrock manifold,Pro-Comp Elect. Dizzy all sitting on a fresh 308 through a 3000 stall.

Basically, no. But it is a bit of a b*tch to set up (because there are so many adjustments).

I ran one on a 400SBC with tri-y's, truck cam, etc and it did take a bit of fiddling (and there were a couple of gotchas to getcha).

jabba is right they can be bitchs to set up. To set it up right you need to know how much vacuum you have at idle to set the power valve.Like jabba said if the vac is too low the power valve will stay open dumping fuel in too the engine.When you adjust t

If it's a 600 with a metering plate, not a block in the secondary's they are the cheapest 4bbl holley made. Ya get what you pay for!!
Altho in saying that, they should still run reasonably.
Check it has the right power valve. From memory a std 600 PV i
