Hi I am new to this site and I would like to know if anyone can help me. I have a xf s pac series 2 1985 unleaded. It is running crap. It runs ok when you are driving but will not idle....any suggestions please

probably a airflow meter failing. It was a common problem on XF EFI's.

it seems it was a carby problem...btw it doesnt have efi is carby

the carb has an idle switch on the side of the carb,it has a wire going to it,without them or if they fag out it will idle like crap/not at all until the revs rise.unleaded wasnt until 86

where does the idle switch wire go to?

Yeah sounds like your idle solinoid is not working.

the idle switch is on twin barrel carbs from the xe/xf motors its on the pass side of the carb cant miss it its got a wire and a plug on it.

I have an XF carb at home from my Dads old series 2 XF & the idle solenoid is vacuum operated so it does not have the wires. Maybe yours is a vacuum operated one & this is why you can't find any wires except the one to the choke.
