Howdy, Thanks to all for their advice so far. I've been searching old threads to answer most questions, but thought I'd put this one out there...

Was reading that on a red 186 a 350 Holley (while better than a stromie) won't be as efficient as a small 4 barrel. Is a 465 too big - does it need to be a 390?

[I have a 465 but it needs rebuilding - should still be cheaper (?) than a new 390].

If the 465 is ok, what jet size / squirters / pump spring / & power valve should be fitted?

It's a standard 186 that will have extractors & electronic ignition. Will put a cam & some head work on another motor at a later date (haven't decided 186 or 202 yet - I'll have to see what comes up at the righ price), but this is just to get me mobile, but also the parts that I can strap onto the other motor when it's completed, so save buying even more stuff. Thanks again dudes!

The 390 suits a 186 better than a 465 but the 465 is still a GREAT carb for the larger Holden 6's.

I can't remember the jets, etc that I ran in mine now :-(

I had one on a worked 186 for years. It went really well and was quite economical if I kept
