Does anyone know what sealer to use when installing tail lights on a HT, also when bolting in the fuel tank, looks like the same stuff used on both, when it's old it's white and chalky..
Thanks, Paul

Unless doing a concourse restoration, I'd be using one of the Sikaflex range.
If you are doing a concourse resto, no idea...sorry.
Cheers...Dave

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply, not heard of Sikaflex, will find out more about it from my Autoparts store...
For the fuel tank I guess it doesn't matter so much as it's generally not visible but the tail lights are a different thing as the seal

The GMH sealer we have at work is malleable and remains so for months if not years.Try not to use a sealer with an acidic cure. The acidic cure can help start corrosion.

Sorry Paul, I missed the Fuel Tank bit...I thought they had Mastick as the sealer around the tanks. At least, they did in the LJ's and such like that I pulled apart. I remember the sealer around the tail-lights being white. Maybe Sikaflex do a white se Edited by user Wednesday, 1 November 2006 10:02:35 AM(UTC)

I spent over an hour trying to remove a set of HK GTS tail lights last weekend. Whatever they used back then had set as hard as a rock and 30 odd years later it still wasn't letting go without a fight. I was so afraid of breaking the lights but I manage
