Hi guys i have just purchased a 1928 chev that i will be turning into a hotrod.
I am thinking of using a HK-HG front and want to upgrade to VN-VP commodore brakes as the car will be running the commodore running gear.
I had a look at the hoppers stoppers website and it states that the front bearings are the same from about EK all the way up to VP so i am assuming i can put VP discs straight onto the HK-HG stubs with out any modification.
Am i correct in thinking this ?
I also want to know if anyone has used the commodore calipers on a HK-HG front end and if so how hard is it to do?

Ant ideas???????

Hi GMH175.

Yes, the front wheel bearings stayed the same from mid-FE to VP Commodore, so the disc rotors will fit the stub axle. It isn't that easy though, the caliper mount offset & bolt pattern are nowhere near close, so it's not a bolt-on job.

If

Your option is preferd over the bigbrake upgrade only thing is i would have to get the studpatern on the hx discs changed to

If it won't you could use a WB Statesman master cylinder.

Hi GMH1975.

The choice of booster & master cyl depends on pedal ratio etc. The HX-WB caliper is very similar to the Commodore anyway, so either m/cyl will do the job.. The HQ to WB master cylinders are 1" bore & most Commodores are 15/16" with the 1" s

On my HK, I have used Volvo 740 turbo vented discs, which are the same stud pattern as hk, and early Corvette 4 spot calipers. A billet adaptor was machined up to hold the calipers. The rear cylinders were changed to a larger dia from the standard HK. The

The booster a m/cyl will be mounted under the car as a 28 chev dont have much room on the firewall so a custom brakepedal will be made.
I will be using the commodore diff aswell so i want the commodore stud patern up front.
I intend on using as much as
