I have been thinking of buying one of those auto darkening helmets but am getting confused. They are advertised from about $60 to $80 to $140 to over $300. I am a bit sceptical about the cheapies, but they have been passed by standards australia so assume they are safe. But I don't have $60 eyes so should I risk it? What should I look for? Are helmets for mig different from plain old arc?

I got a $300 one and it's no better than the cheapy I use at work.In fact the work one is just like a normal old helmet, whereas my flash?? one doesn't like staying up properly and the clips on the side slip around no matter how tight they are. So you end

I have a $140 full solar one, and the one I use at work is too. They are suitable, and I have had no issues with clips, lenses etc. I do suggest you get spare cover lenses, so you can change them as often as necessary. The brand is TQ "Trade Quip" sold by |

I have a Trade quip one which takes one AA battery & defaults to dark if the battery goes flat.
I got it last Christmas or the Christmas before & have never replaced the battery.
It's sensitivity & darkness are both adjustable & it works well with |
