gday. put a new clutch in the ute about 2 months ago. put a heavy duty 308 one behind the 253, along with pressure plate and thrust bearing, went fine for a month or so but now seems to shudder off the line. no amount of adjustments would get rid of for more that 4 or 5 pushes. pulled the rat trap apart cleaned it, new springs still did. got new rat trap put it in lasted a bit longer but startin to do it again!! any suggestions??

I hope you didnt bend any of the clutch fingers when trying to put the transmission back in.dont ever let the input shaft rest the weight of the g/box on the fingers because it wont slide through and you get tired of holding the heavy weight.

I'm with vzgen3 always at least check the surface of the flywheel it may not need machining just be glazed run some emery paper over it, then put a straightedge across it, if you see light in the middle it needs machining, anyway for the cost involved it

One other thing I forgot to mention make sure it has a spigot bearing fitted and make sure it isn't to loose on gearbox input shaft.
if it ain't broke we can improve it.

Soft mount can cause shudder but it wouldn't make a difference hot or cold, when installing gearbox important not to let gearbox hang from clutch plate when not fully installed this can possibly cause problem.
if it ain't broke we can improve it.

Is it a new clutch or recon one? I have found reconm ones often give trouble with the springs coming loose. Also the symptom is like oil on the plate. You sure you don't have an oil leak?

Are you using a plastic throw out bearing carrier? If so get rid of it and get a steel one. A mate had shuddering problems with a new clutch and was advised on the steel carrier and it fixed the problem. TD
