My brothers vk is a 12/84 build with L31 on the plate and QT eng no. was wondering if this engine gets any of the 'good' bits or was it only the later 304's
VK8VK19 - 134

Was also wondering whether you could get a V8 without have 1/2/334 pack or was that mandatory when you ticked the V8 box. Thanks hope someone can clarify

It was a factory 308 4 speed, which usually got the good engine bits, but as it now has a QT block, I'd say that's all gone.

I'll clarify the packs a bit later when I have time.

Cheers,

Mick

Hi Guys.

As Mick says the QT is not the original block.

The QT was the 308 used in HQ/HJ/HX/HZ (exc. Statesmans) prior to 1 Sept '78.

A Commodore 308 would be either VT or VZ.

VT49... block number is spot on for late 84.

The 134 pack is explained as follows:

1st digit is the trim level (1 = SL/exec)
2nd digit is the engine (3 = 5L V8)
3rd digit is the gearbox (4 = 4 speed manual).

This isn't the be-all & end-all thou
Cheers,

Mick
