us muscle is also depicted by `war paint` models racing stripes and patches which would then include the HQ GTS and SS with unique war paint .

If we use Bathurst, we then might run into trouble with the equally as important (to some) touring car championship. I think "our" criteria works, but like any rule/law/definition there are some exceptions that need to be added or subtracted. Like the A9X

Hi Byron.

The RS2000 is OK for a performance car but not as a muscle car, because the 2.0-litre motor was just a stocker. 300Cs don't qualify, they're not made in Australia.

I don't think that Giacotollos or Bolwells qualify, they are 2 seater sport

Interesting Thread!!
Munromad is pretty right, it open to interpretation from whoever. Everyone has different ideas of musclecars.
If it's the fastest, the current VE SS.
Fastest for each model each year, then theres a few you could chose.

I must be stuck in a time warp as I have always considered muscle cars to be of 60's to 70's vintage.....I think this comes from the fact that GMH ceased production of Monaro's and Torana's in the 70's. In fact I can not think of one Australian built musc

When I think of early muscle cars (growing up in the 70`s)it was any aussie make with blackouts, patches , go faster stripes and a cool exhaust note, when I was in year 6 (about 1975-6) I wanted a sandman and my mate wanted a drifter and we all yelled hey

Hehe - what a can of worms !

My 2 bobs worth ! A HK 6cyl in pale blue wouldnt be a muscle car, yet a red HK with any V8 combo would. Raced or unraced. Plus suitable blackouts, engine/exhaust tone etc.

It's a tough nut to crack with these criteria.

Im with Matt on this one, Muscle Cars died in the 70s and I think anything after that phase was and is just a performance car.

Well if we stop after fuel injection do not forget the 57 Chev with fuel injection, so nothing after 57.

How about pre electronics, nothing after the EH with the alternator.

If we are going to draw the line at a date it should be at adr 27a, A9X out
