No HJ came out with a chev motor , the HQ was the last of the oldies with a 350. You would have to check with the RTA in your state, it will fit no probs but check what is required to make it legal.

Fits nice enough though. HJ monaro with 350, only required new engine monts and crossmember.

350 stopped in HQ. It's easy to get a 350 Engineered for a HJ though. All you need is to hook up the canister to the carby correctly, and have a PCV valve. I think that's about it. The rest of the stuff the Engineer has to worry about is simple as all he

The HJ GTS I have was originally a 308, turbo 400. Replacing the 308 with the 350 (1st time) required only engine mounts (according to the cert papers). The second replacement involved a gearbox crossmember replacement as well (I know not why, given tha

Byron, not all HJs came with the canister, but as you say there is only cosmetic differences and HQ gear will do it. In QLD to put a different motor in without engineers tags you are allowed a 10% HP increase on the largest motor available for that model

Hi FAT400

You have an HJ sedan that doesn't have ADR27 on the ADR compliance plate !!

I understand that if this car is a 1974 HJ then it won't have had a canister & lines, but AFAIK ALL Australian delivered HJ passenger cars had ADR27 on the plate.
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
