Hi all,

I have a LX SLR with a 6 cylinder. Prior to replacing it to a V8, how can i check to see if this engine was originally came with the car as it was produced?

I have spoken to Vicroads, but seem to be going in circles.

the guys on the forum might need the plate no:
the engine model trans and axle no:
all on the fire wall. DR TERRY or BYRON RICH
are the dudes too talk to when it comes to
numbers,they might help .

If you have a genuine SL/R the only 6 cylinder engine available was the 3.3 (202), the VIN will start with 8D69L... and the engine code on the Body ID plate will be L20 with an M20 or M40 Trans. The Model No for an SL/R is 8VD69.

I actually saw a 173 powered LX SL/R once. The VIN plate had a D and it had the 173 code on the BODY plate. Never saw another one.

The colour is Contessa Gold Metallic, the trim is Slate Black Vinyl with vinyl insert.

M20 is a wide ratio Aussie 4 speed.

The body is Dandenong built and assembled.

The last character of your VIN (Middle Tag) should be an X.

Just as a check y
