a mates VB sle has 308 th400 and 2.60 diff,
not enough take off for him thinking of changing
to a 3.08 out of fuel injected VK 6cyl .
Its a daily driver around town but what
rev range might it have on the highway and is it
ok to use this diff I know that they run V8
running gear to deal with the fuel injection but
still will it handle it .
thanx dudes

3.08 will be fine. It was probably the most popular ratio in V8 HQ-HZs.

I guess around 3000 rpm at 100km/hr would be about right.

However I have no idea about the differences in VB V8 diffs and VK 6cyl diffs.

VB 5.0 diff = 10 Bolt sailsbury
VK 6 Cyl diff = 8 Bolt (round) sailbury (Banjo internals) not as strong, but cheap and pleantiful if it lets go.

If the tyres were 14 inch 3.55 about 3000rpm 3.08 should be about 2600rpm
2.78 about 2300rpm 2.60 about 1950 rpm ......all at 100k
alot of rev counter arent super accurate....the dyno is more so....

The up/down side of 2.60 diff gears are that you need good power to drive them to high speeds. A HX wgn std 202 auto a mate owned did a max speed of 130 kmh with 3.08 diff ratio and could only manage 110 kmh with a 2.78 diff and the hills killed it. It ju
