Terry,

You are correct in saying "loosely being referred to as export Chev Statesmans"

They were Commercially known as Chevrolet Constantia and Chevrolet Caprice 350.
My model is the later. It's easy to see the difference in the models by the build

Hi ozchevy.

That's my point, they are more than just 'Commercially known as', they are actually BADGED as Constantias, Caprices & Caprice Classics. The 350 was available HQ only & the HJ had the 308, same as here. I also understand that the SA Chev mod

The interesting question is how many 81837's are on the Monaro register or known?

I know of 3...

On that how rare or common were 80337 202 4 speeds?

i dont know about the rarest combination in a 350 gts coupe or 350 ls but my gts is unusual ...blackwatch metallic green with black vinyl roof and green houndstooth trim...and my ls 350 is phantom grey mk1 with red trim...

Seriously though, I am starting to turn and agree that the coupe COULD be an original 81837.

Greg,

I would say this Monaro would be very rare.
Twin headlight on a HQ and I'm presuming as with the export HQ Statesman it would have had the Export grille in it as well, with the cursive Chevrolet inscripted emblem, and centre Bowtie badge.
