The guy was told that it was factory fitted with a 350 (option L30) but there is no mention of it on the tags...He was also told that this often happened in the early HQ's?
The engine number is stamped with QU350.

QU is the engine number prefix for a Holden Chev in a HQ. I doubt that the engine number would actually be QU350.

Firstly the car is not an early as it is a BHQ so it has head rests as standard. QU350## would be a Very very very late (infact they never numbered that high, they would have to of made 25000 350 engined cars to get there) Sydney engine and yours is a Mel

Warren am I reading your post right? Aren't all HQ engines consecutive? Hence QU350xx or QU350xxx is quite possible? Although QU350xxx is a little bit too late for a 10/71 LS350.

No Byron not all HQ engines were consecutive, only the Holden engines were consecutive, Chev engines were like they always were, numbered per plant. Sydney was designated engine numbers 10000 to 39999, so 350## would be a Sydney engine, therefore 25000 35

Engine Number: (Stamped on a pad at the front of the right hand cylinder bank, with prefix)
QU =HQ GTS 350

I'll check with my mate to see what the complete engine number is.
