ill probably go with the Supra turbo box (W58 steel case), apparantly they can take up to 650kW, and since ill only be running around 300, i think it will be a good choice. the celicas arent nearly as strong.

I run a Trimatic with manual shift. This means if you have it in third gear, you will take off in third gear at the lights. So it is in reality a fully manual shift auto box. The thing you remove is the clutch. It works well for me as I am running about 1

yeah, but as i said, i want a manual, with a clutch. and i will also have double the amount of power of your car, meaning that to build up the trimatic, it will cost me alot more because i have to go up a stage. much more than a Supra turbo conversion.

$10000 on internals? there's a torana with similar specs to this running nines with the same internals. he's running 30psi. That's 290kw at the wheels.
You're right about the other engine choices, but i'd rather stick with the 202.

Fair enough. What im getting at with the $10,000 bit is the cost to build the engine close to those output specs and making it last more than a few 1/4 mile runs ie to make it a daily driver. Sure it can be done. But it wont be cheap.

here's the link to the torana running nines, the guy says that the motor will break the supra box in third gear from the torque produced though, so maybe a muncie or toploader are on the cards?? aren't there any strengthening kit for the supra and celica

Probably yes, but an auto can always be made tougher. The ideal engine to run in a Holden is something that bolts to a TH400, which unfortunately the Holden 6 doesnt. Which leads to another thought - a Chev 292 straight 6 done as you describe for the 202,
