Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of the easiest way to undo the 9/16 bolt to adjust the timing easily? The auto transmission dipstick is in the way and I can undo it about 1/20 of a turn at a time, so not impossible but time consuming. Is there a special spanner that can be bought, or am I better off getting an old 9/16 spanner and bending it so it fits around everything easily?
thanks Rhys

do you need the engine running? if not, pull of the manifold, saves you a heap of trouble.
If nissan motorsport is nismo, then doesn't that make honda motorsport Homo?

You could try one of those new ratchet type ring spanners, might be a bit bulky though. I have tried replacing this bolt with a socket head screw because of access in my Torana but it was worse.

What about a Metrinch 14-15mm socket with one of those flexi extensions, to loosen it. Then cut a 9/16"AF ring spanner cut to about 2" long to turn it for distributor adjustment and to tighten it as much as possible before using the extension again. You c |

This must be a prob isolated to WBs (and HQ-Z retro-fitted with HEI) because theres enough room in a commodore for a regular (say 5 inches long) 9/16 to fit and turn the dizzy bolt.
Cheers,

Hi Guys. There is a special spanner designed for just this problem. Its made by the yanks, because this was a common problem on most V8s. Has anyone on this forum tried to loosen the dissy bolt on a Ford Cleveland with A/Cond? The tool comes in 2 Edited by user Wednesday, 23 January 2008 6:03:04 PM(UTC)

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Thanks a lot for the help guys. I'll be buying one of those KD Tools clamp wrenches asap! I think it will pay for itself straight away as it'll take 2 minutes versus 20 minutes. If all else fails I can cut down an old 9/16 spanner.

Rhys am i pretty sure i have seen them at supercheap autos. They also have the 3/8 drive flexi head ratchets to do the spark plugs. Those 2 tools are a must for V8 owners. Cheers...Mario
