how far can i rebore a 308?
it's a 25 F 4 casting no. on the block ( 25/6/74 ? )
it's out to +.040 atm, looks ok but i want to fit a stroker kit and will prolly go to +.060
btw, any idea of the pistons fitted? the markings on the crown are...

There are heaps of 308s out there running at +0.060 but they do seem to get hot - might just be a co-incidence. If you are going to the expense of a stroker I wouldnt use a block already at 40 thou. Id go looking for a standard bore block and build it at |

when stroking a 308 to say 355 one only needs a mild cam is this so ? cheers

hey tenticles,my l34 block was cast on the same day so check the rear webbing for reinforcment, just in case. and if it has, bore it or sleeve it, or sell it for a premium. but dont scrap it. cheers

yes tenticles they are slightly stronger,they have extra casting shaped like 2 x's above the back crank journal,where standard blocks are just flat, all blocks after i think 1984 have the reinforced webbing anyway. but with your casting dates and if it ha

Just to expand, from memory they were Repco? designed/modified F5000 blocks and used by Holden for the L34. An NZ prefix is also a good one to have.

sounds good, just need to know engine letters and first 3 numbers. because it could be a vk black block. going off the date castings doesnt tell you which decade. eg 74 or 84 .regardless they are good blocks
