Hi all, wonder if anyone could give me some information on the idea of changing out a gen 81 WB 1 tonner diff with something around 2.78 to give me better milage up the highway. I have done some research on earlier model holdens that have run 2.78 ratios, which of these would I be able to bolt straight in. I currently running a 4 speed manual M21 with the 4.2 up front.
Any info on this matter would be great.
thanks

Agree. It'd be bad enough in first or reverse with a load as it is!

From personal experience I would probably leave the diff as it is and spend the money on either a Celica or Supra 5spd box. This way you will get good economy a decent spread of ratios and wont lose to much of your low down grunt.
