Thanks heaps for the information.
So that does explain the difference between to two sets of date numbers on the carby.
Early model - Late casting.
Would 7043283 and 7043284 be 308 Manual and Auto carbys.

I must be a dumb ass! I cant work this out. Got another carb, but it has a JHT code. Can someone try to sort this out for me please? 17084595 1464 JHT. Is it for an American car or is it an 88 commodore? Or am I waaaay off?

OK... I think I have most of it sorted,17084595= 1708=80s, 4=1984, 5= a california, 9=???, 5= auto. 1464=146th day of 1984. JHT=??? If someone could tell me what the 9 stands for and the JHT code is, that should be decoded correctly yes?

This is my decode of the numbers you provided.
17084595 1464 JHT

1708 = 1980s
4 = 1984
5 = Quadrajet (4 bbl) California standards
9 = Holden. My Commodore carbys are 9s so 8 and 9 Holden ??.
5 = Manual trans (Odds manual,

Are californian standards the same as commodore?

A.I.R =Air injection Reactor system . Air Pump /pollution system that California had in place since the mid to late 60s to reduce the air pollution over there . We got it in the Commodore era. You can drive a car in Los Angeles with no front on it no prob
