Can anyone here decode this for me please? 1705 6280. 3016. I need a cheap carby urgent and found this, but I need to know what its off cause it's going on my standard 253.

Possibly 1705 = 1976 to 1979, 6 = 1976 , 2 = 4 bbl quady ,8 = GM , 0 = manual trans. Some one correct me if Im wrong.

Also 3016 is a date code,possibly 1/3/76

Its an LX Torana 308 Auto Or manual Full Pollution Carby . Most Quadrajets are different from Manual to Auto but these ones were numbered the same . Just that manual cars get a vacuum outlet blocked off coming out at the right front . 3016 means the 301st

How does 601, 602, 603 come into play? Is it cast on the carby somewhere? How can you tell what it is just by looking at it? Checked out your site, looks good... only if I had more money I could actually buy something off you. HA HA... With out getting yo

601, 602 & 603 are not Rochester numbers. These are part of the Fuel Miser part number system which groups these carbies into 3 lots for the purposes of kit commonality.

As James says, you get what you pay for, that should cover it.

I have a Quaddy that doesnt match either, it has 7041281 ZE and the first "1" is upside down? The cast date is 0123, so 12 Jan 73?

Im a bit unsure of the so called build dates, Found one with 3016 and one with 0783.

3016 means 301st day in the 6th year. you need the main number to see which decade.
James if I id this correctly your carby 7041281 is a manual version of my 7041282 auto carb

So if ZE is a HQ 308 manual would ZF be a HQ 308 auto carby.

Yes sir ZF is HQ 308 Auto, and something many dont realise is that they produced the 7041281 and 7041282 until mid 1973 if you check all the date codes , and then the 7043283 and 7043284 to over after that . So you actually got a 1971 spec carby still in
