I have been through a lot of posts re decoding the tags for pre 1970 Holdens. I am a bit confused about verifying a factory X2 without the original sales docket.
I am looking at a HR Premier X2 and am not experienced enough to validate if it is a genuine vehicle.
Body ID Tag is HR235-1913-A 889-E66 587-8692 585-9562
Firewall Tag A064874
Firewall stamp HR26424A
Engine Number is 186K68856
Car has the X2 badges, multiple gauge cluster, twin carbs and two part exhaust manifold.
I have been able to work out the paint codes etc but any help with verifying the X2 would be appreciated.

Unfortunately being an Elizabeth body I don’t think you can for certain without the Owner’s Guide. Dandenong bodied cars you can. |

Assuming the car has its original engine yes. Remember though not all 186K prefix engines were X2 engines. Dr Terry can probably guide one though what is different between a 186 and a 186 X2, but again there is no guarantee any of it is original to the car. You want either a Dandenong bodied car, or original sales documentation that states the package code for the car - basically the same idea as the package codes used in VB-VL. That package codes appears on Dandenong body plates under the INSERT line, like the one in the attached link http://oldholden.com/ohf...s/hr_body_tag_small.JPG
