I have been through a lot of posts re decoding the tags for pre 1970 Holdens. I am a bit confused about verifying a factory X2 without the original sales docket.

I am looking at a HR Premier X2 and am not experienced enough to validate if it is a genuine vehicle.

Body ID Tag is
HR235-1913-A
889-E66
587-8692
585-9562

Firewall Tag
A064874

Firewall stamp
HR26424A

Engine Number is 186K68856

Car has the X2 badges, multiple gauge cluster, twin carbs and two part exhaust manifold.

I have been able to work out the paint codes etc but any help with verifying the X2 would be appreciated.

Unfortunately being an Elizabeth body I don’t think you can for certain without the Owner’s Guide. Dandenong bodied cars you can.

Assuming the car has its original engine yes. Remember though not all 186K prefix engines were X2 engines.

Dr Terry can probably guide one though what is different between a 186 and a 186 X2, but again there is no guarantee any of it is original to the car. You want either a Dandenong bodied car, or original sales documentation that states the package code for the car - basically the same idea as the package codes used in VB-VL. That package codes appears on Dandenong body plates under the INSERT line, like the one in the attached link
