Can anyone confirm these or fill in the blanks:

VN Group A. Looks to be called option XV2. Is this the car or the engine? Hard to read on my 'fiche, is the torque of 411Nm at 4800rpm or 4000rpm? Is it 9.0:1 or 9.6:1?

VN SV5000. The parts catalogue doesn't list a different engine spec for this, but it does state the engine has a VE engine number prefix. Is this the same engine as the HSV enhanced engine, ie the 180kW? Was it only the SV5000 that used VE in VN? Or is it that 200kW engine? Was there an engine code for these 180kW and 200kW engines, or was it just an enhanced LB9?

VN Group A service manual , Engine prefix VK, option code XV2, 9 -01 compression , 411@4800. SV 5000 has engine prefix VE ( as all 200kw VNs) 180kw is VU. Hope that helps , Mark.

Thanks for clarifying the figures, I thought it was 4800rpm but the 'fiche was smudged. Same with the 9.0:1. Is the XV2 the Group A VK engine, or is it the package?

I think there was only the SV5000 in VN with the 200kW VE engine, no other VN. It appears in VQ and VP in other cars but only in SV5000 in VN?

VK Group A not EFI , do you mean VL Group A ? but that was only 180kw . XV2 is the option pack. only other VN I know of with 200kw engine was HSV T30 . Thanks Mark.

That’s what I meant, I was qualifying what I meant in the prior post, not asking a question. The question was is XV2 the VK prefix engine, or is it the GroupA package. This can get confusing, for example the 327 in HK was RPO code L34 but the GTS327 package was XT2 (which included L34). So just making sure. The fact that all the 165, 180 and 200kW engines seem to be LB9 was just double checking.

What I’m doing this for, is I’ve been compiling a list of all GMH V8 engines from start to end ie HT to VS. including all power/torque figures, compression, engine number prefixes and what they were used in. It goes with an article about the engine. Just missing a few figures. One I’d like to find is full figures for the Hurricane 253, hard to obtain though.

Byron, the figures I have for the Hurricane engine are:

10:1 compression, 260 bhp @ 6000 rpm & 260 ft/lb @ 3800.

PO number L33, engine no. prefix RD001, solid cam & QJet 4MV carby.

according to the Holden options book ( 1993) , XV2 means SS , in HQ , VH & VK , also XV2 means Group A SS in Vl & VN.

Doesn't XV2 also apply to the VK HDT SS & SS Group 3 ?

AFAIK, the odd SS out is the HDT VL SS Group A, it was the A9L.

The blocks with VP Prefix is for VL SS Group A Walkinshaw and the Blocks with VK prefix are all the same type of 4 bolt mains Blocks, they have bigger diameter lifter bores as well.
The VE Prefix had a stock Block but was a red painted engine with a bigger Camshaft etc.
