I’m assembling an HK GTS 80837 for a customer. It left the factory as a six cylinder. When I disassembled the front end the original 7449996 coil springs had had the bottom coil removed. I’m discarding them anyway as the vehicle is being restored as a V8 replica. I require a pair of 7449997 coil springs. I don’t fancy my chances in finding a pair and the car is not going to be a 100 point restoration. My question is, are there any alternatives available on the market that will be close/similar in height and performance with the flat ends? Any leads would be much appreciated. If you don’t need it immediately I can give you the exact spring data so you can approach manufacturers and see what they have close. It is all in the original Engineering specs. I’m resting at the moment due to a locked up lower back, but will be back at the PC later today. Is it a HK 80337 or HK80737 you are building?
On the same subject, I’m on the hunt for original front and rear coils for my HJ Premier sedan. L31, M41 with A/C. Have original shocks but it has Selby springs. |

Thanks HK1837. I’d like the specs so I can pass them on to a manufacturer. Can you suggest a suitable Spring manufacturer? Industrial springs in Adelaide closed down a couple of years ago. It is an HK80737 I’m building. |

Industrial springs in Adelaide closed down a couple of years ago. It is an HK80737 I’m building. If you send me an EMAIL (not a PM) via this site I'll send you the page. Click on my username an you'll see two tabs: PM and EMAIL. The spring specs for reference are: HK GTS - 6cyl with A/C, V8, V8 with A/C. HK GTS327Right hand helical coil. Silicon Manganese or Chromium Steel. 0.665" gauge. 4.90 active coils, 6.40 coils total. 3.54" ID. 10.07" free, 7.96" at 1520lbs. Deflection rate 720lb/in at springs, 176.4lb/in a wheel. The same springs were used on the below, with the caveat that the deflection rate at the wheel does not include additional wheel rate for suspension rubber pivots: HT GTS (737) with A/C. HT V8 GTS (837) manual. HT GTS350 (1837) manual. HG GTS350 (1837) manual.
