A little more info might help.
Are you talking about the latch mechanism inside the door or the lock barrel ?

the barrels are fairly straightforward. there's a retaining clip at the back of the barrel that usually slides towards the inside of the door, there's a grab point on the clip. the barrel then pulls out. only thing to watch for is left and right as they're off set at the rear of the barrel so don't put them in upside down.

Thanks very much. I have the 2 new barrels & they are identical ! Looks like the Z bracket held on by the 3 pronged clip can be moved 180deg to fit either door. I am assuming the flat part of the key is at the top as it goes into the barrel ? TIA

Yes, all my old holdens always had the flat/straight edge of the key upwards.
