Hi again :)

My 10/74 One Tonner has the inner door belts roughly screwed to top metal portion of Door card, is this correct ?

When I search for replacement I can see HQ appear to be different to HJ-WB, how / why would they be different ?

I ask as mine is a HJ but identifies as HQ regularly, for example my bonnet lacing rubber retainers have 3 holes (HQ) whereas HJ should have 2 !

HQ front door belt strips are shorter that HJ-WB, because there is a small triangle spacer at the front corner of HQ doors.

What do you mean by "mine is a HJ but identifies as HQ regularly" ? The doors are either HQ or HJ, there is no crossover.

I presume as it has a commercial front, it looks like HQ

Hi
I have a 79 HZ 1ton. My understanding is all 1tons have HQ panels and cabs (certainly in NZ)
The strips in mine are held in place with a form of stakeing, and the doors have the triangle insert on the front bottom corners of window frameing.

No they don’t. HJ have HJ cab, HX have HX cab and HZ have HZ cab. Most HJ to HZ continued with HQ design front sheetmetal but the cabs are still HJ, HX or HZ, they just have the style lines in the cowl to match the bonnet. They used the doors like any other HJ to HZ in the same Series.
HJ to HZ cab chassis were available as a Special Vehicle Package option code BO6 which had Premier front sheetmetal and door trims, plus a few other bits. The only way to get a 5.0L in HJ to HZ cab chassis was along with option BO6.

No, It doesnt have a commercial front.

Tags say HJ but as stated above my bonnet lacing rubber retainers have 3 holes (HQ) whereas HJ should have 2.

I cannot see a little triangle corner except at the very top front of the door frame

My existing door belts are 750mmm long

I have a HJ and a HQ door on my tonner.
You have HJ doors. The door belts are 750mm long. For HQ doors they are around 715mm.
The door design was changed from HQ to HJ. The little triangular spacers were removed, the door frame was strengthened and the support for the window glass was changed. That causes the difference. The changes were all internal though, both HJ and HQ doors will fit your tonner.

The door belts were stapled on with heavy duty staples. These had the advantage of being flush with the door belt.
You can use rivets if you don't have a HD stapler but you need to place the rivets so the butt-end of the rivet doesn't hit the top of the door frame which isn't straight, it wobbles around a bit. Easiest would be to use the existing screws. Or you could rivet through the screw holes as I think the screws would stick out the same as rivets so the hole spacing should clear the door frame. Either works.

Bloody supplier told me the exact opposite, they said people buy HQ belts & cut them down to size !
