Hey guys,
Looking for advice & recommendation for replacement dizzy for HX 308
Basically standard eng, just looking for reliability.

I had a read throu some posts on here, (from Byron) about HEI dizzy on eBay, but the link didn't work

They are a Goss brand. Link below is for dizzy and coil. You can re-use your old leads. It won’t fit exactly where the points dizzy fits as the module box hits on the red intake, so the body has the be rotated around so the leads don’t lay exactly as per original. And your vacuum advance hose light be too short.
You’ll also need to bridge two terminals on the ignition switch.

If you Google “Late HQ - early HJ top end refurb” on the GMH-Torana website you can see pictures of when I did mine. On page 2.

Also need to fit XT5 V8 plugs with correct gap (see text in above link). Word of warning, the GMH-Torana site posts are sometimes out of order so look at the time and date of posts for logical order.

OK, so I purchased a dizzy from the above link, & the site said GOSS brand dizzy, but when it turned up, its in a box with R.A.E. all over it, & no mention of GOSS brand

Went & looked at the sellers listings, & the R.A.E. dizzy are $20-$50+ cheaper than the GOSS ones.

Do you think that's just the way it is, or possible they have sent the wrong one?

RAE & GOSS are one in the same. They are Injectronics brands from the same source.

To my knowledge the older stock will be branded RAE & the newer stock, GOSS.

I sell a lot of these & I don't think I've seen any GOSS boxes yet.

When I looked @ R.A.E. there was some bad reviews, but that could be just operator error etc.

My plan is once my dizzy is up & running OK, to purchase another one the same, & carry as spare in case of problem.

Probably keep a spare module, rotor button and cap. Make sure you fit blue engine plugs with plug cap to suit WB etc.

I have a genuine Bosch HEI dizzy ( kept the original VK one , in a box as spare) that I had rebuilt/modded by Ignition developments (Scorcher )
with adjusted timing (race engine you see) plus small cap and rotor (GOSS brand I think)

And in over 15 years of use (and I am turning my engines up to 7,000rpm) the only that has failed on this ... every few years is the module.
I buy (and keep spares of) the genuine Bosch modules but dunno.. maybe its the heat or vibration, the ignition spark just stops
(could be on the track, in the paddock or at home) and the fix is always a new module

Do have spare leads, cap and rotor in the spares box i take to the track .. never needed 'em Dancing

I went to ashdown/Ingram last week to get a Bosch module, & they said no longer available.

They are listed on ebay, but I was doubting if the genuine Bosch would turn up?

Anyone tell me where to get genuine Bosch modules, I would like to grab a couple.

The reason I said keep spares is you can’t walk into the local milk bar and buy parts for a Holden anymore. So having a spare saves you waiting for postage.

I have 2 hotrods running SBCs, both started out with chinese dizzys, one had so much trouble I ended up putting a MSD in it.
The other one, no bonnet & driven + parked in all weather, has had the module replaced twice in 20 odd years on the road, & a spare module in the toolbox
