VZ SV6 tailshaft centre bearing:
Getting different info, some mechanics said to get an exchange tailshaft, which owner dosent really want to do, as this is a low k, one owner, looked after car. Other mechs say, yes we change the centre, no worries. Local Holden parts say it isn't a serviceable part, but auto parts place, (plus eBay, etc) have available. Then go to order the replacement & get asked for measurement of bracket, plus tube size. One asked for the vin, then said there was 4 choice's!
So, what is the best way to make sure we get the correct centre bearing?

So, what is the best way to make sure we get the correct centre bearing? my experience... have rebuilt the Commodore centres - being CV joint and bearing on high kilometre shafts and then taken them to a shop for balancing (worth the bucks if unis also replaced) and for that used the original OEM Hardy Spicer kits (GMH got the shafts from them) to do the rebuild. But only the bearing if noisy on low kilometer cars and also handed a few I reckon were not straight/twisted (a look down the shaft showed the unis were obviously out of alignment by 15-20°) to Hardy Spicer (.. who were convenient to me) Beware Spicers and balancers have a habit of painting the shafts.. especially if balance weights are added by welding |

There are 3 basic parts to the centre bearing in those models. There's the CV joint, which gives very little trouble unless the boot is split. Then there's the bearing itself, which again seems to give very little trouble.
The 3rd part is the rubber bearing support, this is what is usually cactus. Most times you just need a new bearing with its rubber surround.
