I was informed today that HK transmission tunnels are smaller than HT HG. Is this true as i always though they were the same. I do realise hk uses a different trans cross member

As far as I know they are identical. The only difference in the front floor area that I know of is the HK floor member under the front seats has captive nuts in it for the HK (and HD-HR) gearbox cross member.

Thats what i thought but the rodshop in castlemaine said hk is smaller
