G'day all, new blood here. I'm fitting an X2 gauge unit to a mates HR Prem.
The blue oil wire and the green temp wire were in the center (power) of the bulb holder with the pink wires down the side (earth) so I have soldered the wires direct to the input terminals on the back of the gauges. Both gauges max out with ign ON with the wires at the sender on or off. Senders are sposed to be the correct items. I've also removed the green temp wire from the ign switch.
I cannot find any pics etc on the factory X2 connectors (waiting for a new Ellery manual to arrive), so do I have the wires on the right way round?
Any useful input will be greatly appreciated!

The input terminals on the rear of the gauges are meant to go straight into the existing globe sockets. The only modifications or additions to install an X2 gauge set is the wiring for the ammeter.

The polarity of the gauge connections are critical. AFAIK the +VE 12v is supplied to the side pin & the centre pin goes to the sender. Also while the oil gauge sender is the same as HK/HT/HG/HQ/LC/LJ/TA, plus many Commodores, the temp sender is unique to HD/HR, the later temp sender will not work.

Thanks Mr Dr, seems I have it right. I'll need to eyeball part numbers on the senders, just no idea why max readings are the only thing happening.

I just checked the gauges for continuity and they both have some! As in the power is moving through freely. Hmm, maybe too much solder? So I disconnected the 12v in wire from the inside of the connector and there is still something getting through. 75 Ohms. What am I missing? Why does it seem like both gauges are "live" when connected? Is there something that should be inline with the 12v in?
I'd like to sus it out before the owner takes it to a overpriced sparky.
