Start with a circuit diagram & a test light. There is is no common link between those 2 circuits other than the fusebox itself. The headlights (except the the hi-beam flasher) are supplied thru fuse 1 & the brake lights are supplied thru fuse 3. Dr Terry Edited by user Wednesday, 22 April 2026 11:13:12 AM(UTC)

If the fusible link has gone open circuit it cuts all power to every circuit, except the main starter lead. One other thing, when chasing electrical harness faults especially fuses & switches etc, it's better to use a test light, not a multimeter. A multimeter will lead you astray, because it's not reading 12V under load. Use a good old fashioned incandescent lest light, not a LED one. The LED type will do the same as a multimeter. Dr Terry |
