Hey all
I just wanted to bring up a topic seeing as though im a kid and i will be on my p-plates soon.
I have gathered up of stats of Holden engines from the 60s through to now. this relates to in Victoria you are not allowed V8's.
A VB blue 253 generates 87kw at 4000rpm (oh my god!)
A series 1 VN Buick 3.6L chucks out 125kw at 4800rpm and that is the lowest of the EFI commodores you'll get.
We are allowed to buy a VZ standard 3.6L engine and that generates 175-172kw (don't know at what RPM) which is almost around what a Red 308 does.
WB,VC,VH,VK blue 253 single exhaust dose 100kw at 4200rpm and 115kw with the dual exhaust which is still lower then the VN's Buick
WB,VC,VH,VK blue 308 dual exhaust is 126kw at 4200rpm
The red 253 does 138kw at 4400rpm and the red 308 does 179kw at 4800rpm
so why aren't we allowed to put a blue 253 in our Hk's or Hq's and drive them on our p plates and they worry about 'hoons' and V8's when all the EFI commodores do more?
shouldn't we be allowed a Blue 253 V8 on p-plates? it pumps out a massive 87kw-100kw (a red 173 pumps out 84kw at 4400rpm but they haven't been outlawed for p platers)
shouldn't the law be made on power rating instead of how many cylinders it has? cant the law be p-platers are allowed a blue 253 V8 in their car with a single exhaust with the standard carby?
did the state government think about this or did they really revise the law they made?
this is just what i think after reading the stats.
agree or disagree.
P.S don't yell at me
