What HQ's had the green houndstooth seat inserts in them? Did it depend on the external colour of the car of was it just an option you could ask for? The green might look ok in a Barbados green car. The other question is, why are some HQ's herringbone and others houndstooth, was that optional as well? Thanks Edited by user Wednesday, 17 July 2013 7:00:14 AM(UTC)

Hi , early HQ (S1) July 1971, b/green houndstooth , only GTS and with black vinyl seats , LS had Diamond cloth , Kingswood & Premier Raydo cloth. Is Roebuck like Royal cord cloth ? as this replaced raydo in (S2) premiers & ls monaro ,about August 1973. |

Thanks Geer, Actually I screwed up my second question I wrote roebuck but I meant to say herringbone. I'll edit that. So Ranier and Herringbone are the same thing? I didnt know that. I was wondering why some cars have herringbone and others houndstooth but you've answered that, although I'm not 100% convinced yet. I've got a late 74 GTS thats I've owned for 24-years and its original seats were houndstooth before I replaced them about 20-years ago (with houndstooth again), are you sure they were suposed to be Herringbone in 74? Maybe some Holden plants did their own thing. Edited by user Tuesday, 16 July 2013 10:53:17 PM(UTC)

If you have ownd the car since 1989 then there is a very good chance that it was retrimmed in cloth houndstoth that was readily availble at that time, but ranier was not. Have seen lots of late HT to HQ Monaros with this cotton houndstooth, I also had it in an LH Torana that I purchased in 1990.
It could not be a plant thing as the seat covers had to be ablt to be replaced, so the trim line had to match what was going in the car. Roebuck & Houndstooth trims start with a 1 or 2 and Longrain & Ranier trims start with a 3. SOoif your 74 Monaro has a trim starting with 1 or 2 i.e. 10Y then it might be a special order. If it starts with 3 then it is longrain vinyl trim and no houndstooth.

I'm at work and I dont have the interior code of that car, not sure if it starts with a 1,2 or 3 probably a 3 I guess.
My other car is also a 74 GTS and its got houndstooth as well. It needs the seats done anyway so I'll go with the correct black long grain & ranier/herringbone. Body HQ80469 XW8 Trim 1877-30Y 30Y Paint 568-15827
Thanks

Yeah my green car has some cheap nasty material and poorly made seat covers. My blue car I always thought was originaly houndstooth but I cant confirm that until I get back to Aus.
