Hi Steve, Finally got my springs delivered, these are Lovells 2 inch lowered, and they measure about 285mm.

I found a shocker that will prevent the lowered rear springs from falling out when the body is on jacks or a hoist. Standard shocks are too long to hold short springs in place. Pedders GSR9047 shocks are 60mm shorter than standard. The 2060 and 2062 springs are as low as you would ever want to go on a HQ. They use these on the HQ racers. - - Heres what I got for my HQ GTS4 - - Front SportsRyder Shocks - GSR9033 Springs - 2060 B Rear SportsRyder Shocks - GSR9047 (60mm shorter shock than standard) Springs - 2062 A (310mm long x 16mm gauge)

Hey Big Al, Those things are 25mm shorter than mine! Let us know how it goes mate. I think you'll need a set of rear SportsRyder GSR9047 shocks or your springs will fall out every time you jack the car up . . . or when you roll it. Enjoy!

I'll get back to the chappy and see if they carry a shorter shock, especially seeing as I plan on rolling my car frequently haha

Excellent, might have a look into this now rather than later while all this info is fresh in my head. New shocks will be needed at some point no harm in sooner rather than later ey?

Howdy Steve, I just got them from Pedders. Shocks were $220 a pair and springs were $180 a pair. I havent tried the short shocks yet but I'm sure they'll be fine. A guy bought some for his LH Torry a day before me and the Pedders guy seems to think its the way to go. I've got these same springs on my other HQ and it sits nice.

The springs I got are Lovells HFR-2 (I think they call them Super Low), and the shocks I got are KYB gas filled (standard length). I have spoken to the fella at Lovells and he said the combo should be fine.
But now that the point has been raised, I'm just a little concerned that the shocks are going to be constantly compressed by an extra 2 inches, and therefore working in a different part of the shock during regular driving. Is there a "sweet spot" in gas shocks? Or is the performance linear?

The length of the shock has to be determined by the amount of travel that the wheel will move through. As long as the shock is not shorter in length than the amount of travel in the suspension then it will work. Too short and it will break.
The shock wont have a sweet spot. But if your suspension is set up correctly then the shock will match the spring. they work as a pair.
