Hi All,is there an easy way to remove the window wiper "mechanize" on the drivers side of a HQ J X Z..........?OR is it strip everything off?
any help as my hx one has snapped and I only got one wiper working.pissin me off!

get your head under the dash and look up thru the air vent in the open position..you will need a long..really long extension bar...if its an a/c car remove the plate.. going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car... www.classicozwreck.com.au |

it's a right bugger of a job!
as greg said, the only way is up through the vent on the inside of the car

Know how you feel Jim, I've been looking at replacing the same part on my HQ. If you find an easier way, be sure to share it.

There are 3 x bolts that hold it on and you need a 5/16 socket to get them. Two are easy to see but the third on is toward the front of the car and a bit harder to get to. I was lucky in that I removed mine with the dash out and no vents etc....but it was still a bugger of a job.

geez guys its not that hard..remove right wiper arm,remove cowl vent,unclip right wiper arm link from wiper motor.remove lower dash panel...get fat arse under the dash with a long extension bar and go up thru the vent tube hole and undo..to install is a reverse of what i have noted plus a 6 pack of whatever grog may please you... going to church makes you no more a christian than standing in a garage makes you a car... www.classicozwreck.com.au |

cut the cowl panel off replace and weld back on~ only joking but not a bad idea if its rusty !

1/4 inch drive socket set with knuckle and small extension on the 5/16 helps a fair bit....

Been waiting for you to find an easier way but you didn't come through. Replaced mine today. What a p***k of a job trying to do it through the vent. Eventually took the vent off and it was straight forward.
