To my knowledge this could only originally be from an EH or HD 149 hi-comp engine.

The 161 head had an extra water hole at the front face & uses a different casting number.

The EH/HD 179 (& also the rare 149 lo-comp) used a head with a larger combustion chamber & therefore a different casting number again.

It will fit but be pretty high compression if it is a high comp 149 and 161 head.

The XU-1 head is similar to the 149/161 head especially in the combustion chamber area. If the engine suffered a cracked head in the past, a 149 head would have been a good substitute, given some valve & port work.
