Hi there. Does anyone know what the chances (if any) of fitting a GTS steering wheel from a LJ/HQ-HZ to a HR? If so what needs to be modified so it works? I want a larger but sport type wheel for it. Any help apprciated. Anthony

HK/T/G and LC sports steering wheel will fit, HQ/LJ style will not fit, as the spline is different.

I had a HKTG GTS boss that had been tapered on the inside diameter on the coloum side so it would fit a HR. So with a little bit of modifying they will fit and no need to pay an arm and a leg for a genuine wheel as you can just buy one of the reproduction type that are available which also saves on the pain knowing that you will not be modifying a genuine wheel. |

As VANOM says, it is possible. As described above for HK/T/G LC factory sports wheels using an original Monaro/Torana boss. Another way around it is to use an aftermarket boss & machine to suit. Below is a Monaro boss on EH/HR column. Clearance of outer shroud, indicator assembly, indicator return pins & horn contact design need to be addressed. But, it can work if you're prepared to sacrifice a genuine boss to the lathe. Just think it through. Conversely, this is a modified SAAS boss. And the end result. Although not the Monaro/Torana horn assembly, it is just a matter of thinking through the clearances & making it work. |

That wheel looks perfect-like a factory fit. And is that a Trimatic auto quadrant I see? |
Attn camry drivers. The accelerator is the skinny pedal on the right. |

Gee thanks Jimbo. I wanted the early era feel without the fat leather wheel. |

Just looking at what you have posted, you have pictured a black wheel above and you have a red wheel in your avatar, are these wheels 69 Corvette wheels or grant wheels both with a shallower dish than a HKTG wheel? Edited by user Sunday, 20 July 2014 1:21:45 AM(UTC)

They are both Corvette wheels and quite shallow adapted to suit on the old SAAS boss. Needed the arm room. |
