Another job on the TO DO list this weekend is to make and then paint and fit the front brake caliper brackets. The hard part is done with the template being made. I found a piece of 10mm plate to use so it's only a matter of getting it done..

Drivers side basic pipework done. There will need to be some gentle manipulation once the pipes are final welded. Then I have to work out how to make it all fit and be able to be removed easily removed.

Almost done. Still some internal welding to do however I gave up for today. Still dealing with this flu virus so I'm not firing on all cylinders. (PUN INTENDED) The desire to be able to fit these pipes with the engine bolted in place has led to the setup you see in the picture. The passenger side setup will fit up in 3 pieces whilst the drivers side is 4. There is also a procedure to fit them that if not followed they won't go in. Luckily I have written it down.

Fantastic job Scott. It's looking great, but reeeeaaaaly busy underneath. Did you weld the pipes into the collectors and if so are you concerned about them cracking?

I welded the collectors on mainly to ensure they stayed in place and didn't leak. The pipes run very close to everything under there so can't move around too much. Also welding them on stops leaks. Slip joints are also a bugger to get apart after a lot of use whereas the 2 bolt collectors will always be easy.
It's busy underneath because everything that is normally in the engine bay is under the car now and it's all fighting for space.

Hope I can make it to the show so I can have a good look at your car Scott. It's a work of art.

All I wanted was lighter steering. Well after 6 months and way too much money the EH is finally back together. The Southern Chassis works front end is in and dialed in. The new exhaust fabricated and installed and the new Boyd wheels ready to go. First outing out will be Silverwater Park EH show on 23rd August. Hopefully all goes well.

Test flight successful. There's a rear tyre scrubbing occasionally. Not too worried about that because the old wheels did the same. I thought I had fixed that however by changing the offset on the new wheels slightly. No big deal. The front end worked perfectly. It's a bit bouncier at the moment than the HR setup. However I still haven't had an alignment done and the shocks are set at the comfort/street settings recommended by the manufacturer. I will fiddle with them. I have a slight drip of power steering fluid from the pump and that's it. The front end worked perfectly with NO SCRUBBING at all even around the tight roundabouts around my local streets. I think I got the ride height pretty much spot on first go as well. The bottom of the front crossmember, which is the lowest point in the front end is 115mm off the ground. It could therefore go down 15mm more. I'm leaving it where it is thinking that it may still settle a few mm with use. I'M HAPPY if you haven't guessed. Time to have a coffee and then start cleaning her for next weekend..
